Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge

Nēnē is Hawaii’s state bird. An endemic goose with a diverse diet, nēnē are endangered from loss of traditional habitat and hunting by introduced mammals. Captive breeding, predator control, and habitat restoration are helping its recovery. Nēnē have adapted to living in many habitats.
